A good friend of mine has recently started making jewelery from found objects inspired by narrative.
Drawing from her background in art restoration, curating, metal-smithing and other artistic and literary pursuits, Sarah Joyce launched Poultice Narrative Jewelery last December, 2011.

Her work is absolutely superb, done with rigor and skill. Weaving together story and found objects selected from a plethora of findings, Sarah's work is imbued with reflection and originality. In her words:
It has been said that the downfall of many scholars is a dependence on verifiable historical truth. It has also been said that the writer of history begins with a relic. I reconstruct new histories from unwanted materials. I search for alternate meanings and create new ones. I am drawn to unexpected junctures but strive for a strange familiarity. Words and histories are materials for deconstruction and fabrication. I am a bricoleur. I am a fabulist.
I am posting this on A Donkey Diary, is because Sarah just completed two pendants, based on the book Platero Y Yo by Juan Ramon Jimenez.
Sarah's words:
" Platero is a symbol of tenderness and purity. He is greatly beloved. The lyrical prose becomes a way for Jimenez to reflect on the journey through life. The notion of Journey as well as Pilgrimage are central to this project. Pilgrims pass through territories not their own, seeking something we might call completion, or perhaps, clarity. This Platero describes the journey. The journey IS the Donkeys. They are guides in a journey of love and devotion. The wearer’s internal compass points the way.
